I went into our offices last week to pick up a few items of necessity. If I had known in March what I know now, I'd have taken all those items to begin with.

One of the big ones is a small notebook I kept at the office that has a lot of phone numbers, account information, and whatnot. I was glad to get it back. I also got my wireless mouse, a back scratcher, my lacrosse ball (also for my back, namely, loosening knots in muscles), and my calendar, which reminded me I have a ladyparts doctor appointment next month. Oh, for joy!
I also did a little rummaging to make sure I hadn't left anything perishable in the desk. Bad news. I did.
Good news - it was an orange, in a shopping bag - the peel never split, and it ended up being just a small desiccated brown orb.
Other than that, the place was just like we left it. It smelled like paper, and dust, and time.
I will be glad to get back there for real, with other people and all. But realistically, I don't see that happening until January. I mean, unless people get their heads out of their asses and start wearing masks, quarantining, quitting the bullshit Covid parties, stop saying it's a hoax.
I don't know - I think we're in for a long five months. Can you imagine? I need to take some time off between now and then. And soon.
It's been a weird year so far, and it just keeps getting weirder.
But at least now I have my lacrosse ball back.
And I have removed my dried fruit collection.
The rest, I'll take as it comes.
