Let me get this straight...

So, here's a little story for you.

I am, as I believe you know, a plus-sized woman.  I have lost a fair amount of weight this year, though to be honest - that has stalled and back-slid some in the latter part of 2017.  My goal between now and the end of the year is to maintain as much as possible and hit it hard again in January.

That, my friends.  That is how I roll.

Anyway.  This week is my company Christmas luncheon, and it's a dressier than usual affair - that is to say, I need to not wear jeans.  I have a few options, but truth be told, I could stand to own a black skirt, and that would double my options for the luncheon, and for work in general.  So, with that in mind, I went to Target today on the off chance that their plus sized line (Ava and Viv) had a black skirt.

No.

But, I noticed that in their misses department, they had a stretchy black skirt in a size 18, and I thought... hell, I haven't had my defeating moment for the day, we'll see if I can make this work.

Well, here's the thing.  I fully expected that it wouldn't fit at all, wouldn't zip, wouldn't come over my hips and ass.

But guess what, sports fans... it did.

It went on, it zipped, and I could still breathe.  Now, it wasn't flattering, and I didn't buy it - but do you know how long it has been since I dared to try a "straight size"?

Yes, that's what they call it in the Fashion Industry.  Anything that isn't plus is straight.  Which is better than what I heard in retail.

Curvy Barbie, like curvy human would prefer a more understated look, like original Barbie.

"Oh, these are the fat sizes!"

"Can you tell me where the normal sizes are?"

I often played dumb with that second question.  I would say, "Well misses are upstairs, petites and plus are downstairs, but they're all normal sizes."

Anyway.  Can I get a woot woot for being able to get into something in the "regular" department?

Whatever.  I still need a black skirt.

Peace and grease, y'all - I'm off to try Stein Mart.

Woot woot! And here's hoping you do find something. And an extra special brava! for "they're all normal sizes".
