I've Been Thinking...

I have strong opinions about a lot of things like:

Disney adults are a little creepy.  I don't get the appeal, and if I'm going to go down a rabbit hole, it's not going to be the Disney version of Alice in Wonderland.

Cornbread shouldn't be sweet.

Your kids are nowhere near as unique and precious as you think they are.

Yes, I do need to say hello to every dog I pass.

Cybertrucks are just weird, gross, and ugly.

Breakfast in a restaurant is delightful.

Breakfast for dinner is not only acceptable, but occasionally necessary.

Yellow cake with chocolate icing makes the best birthday cake.

Red velvet cake can suck it.

Most personal fragrances today are too heavy and hurt my throat.

The Unhappiest Place On Earth

You shouldn't wear shorts into an office job, especially when the dress code states no shorts.

You shouldn't get high in your car before you come into your office job reeking of skunky ditch.

You shouldn't have to be told twice not to come into work high and smelling like skunky ditch.  You really don't have to be told once, honestly.

If people are confused after being trained by the guru user of a specific software - maybe the software is a problem.

If people are confused after being trained by the guru user of a specific software, maybe the guru isn't any better than just plain old standard user.

Meatloaf is old school and delicious.  It is even better in sandwich form.

Nap sleep is better than night sleep because it feels like you're getting away with something.

Dreams are sometimes like defragging your computer - just bits and pieces that get lumped into a batch and need to be processed and deleted.  Sometimes, they explain things to you that you didn't know you needed to know.  But in a poetic, crack the code kind of way.

It's fine to fall on your sword, but once you're done, pull it out, and administer self-care.  Call for help if needed.

Sometimes, just watching things play out is the best way to solve what seems unsolvable.

When you write software, a program, a document, or a process that defines a word using that word, you're a shitty writer.  Shift F7.  Just as bad, you have the same word used to define two different concepts - for example if you are talking about the answer to a problem (solution) and a solvent containing some kind of mixture (solution) in the same paragraph, people are going to be confused.

It's hard to dress for the job that you want when you can't even manage to dress for the job that you have.

Houses are way too expensive.  So are groceries.  So is gas.  And healthcare?  Forget it.

I don't mind the aging process, but this crusty sun spot on my face has to go.  I mean, sunspot, fine - but if you try to put concealer on rough skin, well - it looks like I have a rice krispie stuck to my face.  No bueno.  Dermatologist September 2nd.  Thank heavens.

If someone gives a bilingual English-speaker shit about their accent, they're a dirtbag.  Anyone who can speak more than one language deserves wide berth in their non-native tongue.  Period.

Coffee is lovely.  It is not, however, a substitute for a good night's sleep.

Sometimes I get tired of cooking. But I'm also tired of takeout.

Artificial Intelligence has developed enough.  I need Artificial Labor to come in and clean my house, empty my dishwasher and do my laundry.  Then I can spend time being creative, growing a garden, whatever.  Some years ago, I came up with the idea of a beta wife - this is that, but robotic, so that the wives don't get emotionally and physically exploited.

I maintain that being pleasant and being present are 80% of the challenge.  You can get away with a lot if you show up and have some good energy.  Now, sometimes that 20% will knock you on your ass, but that's OK.  It's a law of averages.

Would I rather be right, or be happy?  Both.  Being right makes me incredibly happy.

Sometimes, a shitty cheeseburger from McDonald's can be the best thing you've had to eat in weeks.  That's OK.

It may be that they want receipts, but only the ones they're keeping.  And that is suspicious, friends.

When you point out someone's flaws, that's three fingers pointing back at you.

OK, I'm seeing some of these aren't really opinions, they're gripes.

So, yeah.

Anyway, you do you, I'll get back to you once I get a few things settled.

Good luck at the dermatologist.
Also if you're a software guru and you're really excited to show off a new change you've made to your program don't get upset when people say "What about the problems you were supposed to fix?"
And it bothers me that grocery stores sell a lot of individual cake slices but I can never find yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Not that it's hard to make. In fact I think I should do that.
