Well, howdy.
I know it's been a minute, or ten.
Things here are good. Weird, but good. Well, they're not personally weird. For me, life is plugging along at a nice little clip. I am tired - the cold weather tends to really take it out of me. And today was pretty dang cold. The weekend was equally cold, and we ended up doing a lot of walking around to test out some of Matt's cold weather gear for outdoor work he has coming up. Basically, I feel windburned, chapped and dehydrated. I slept weird last night because we had an early alarm set for he aforementioned outdoor work. I plan to take a long winter nap at some point soon.
I am having lunch with two co-workers tomorrow, then dinner with a friend Wednesday, and then Friday, a holiday party. And then, basically, it's Christmas. I have some little gifts for Matt and the dog to put together. Everything else has been handled. It's a miracle.
Although, I need to determine what we're going to do for dinner both eve and day. So, there's that.
We are coming up on the one year anniversary of Mom's death - I'd say it's weighing on me, based on the crazy dreams I've had the past few weeks. Sure, you can shove everything down in your waking hours, but your dreams will have plenty to say. Plenty.
There's also a lot of bad shit going down in the world. Rob Reiner and his wife were murdered (by their son, it seems). He's one of those National Treasure types. A nepo baby, but in the best way. He was a delight. He was a good man, and made great films and he was MEATHEAD, for fuck's sake. And married to Penny Marshall for a bit. And responsible for When Harry Met Sally, and Princess Bride, and Stand by Me. Three defining movies for my generation.
So that sucks. Also, some students were killed (2) and injured (9) at Brown over the weekend. Killer still at large.
Then in Australia, fifteen were killed at Bondi Beach celebrating Hanukkah. Shot. Which is so not Australia. We're the gun nuts. It's us, the US. Not Australia.
I hope the bad things happening in threes end there.
Pantone announced their color of the year, Cloud Dancer.
Uh huh.
I'm calling bullshit.
I don't have a color and word for 2026 yet - working on it.
When I know, I'll know.
And I'll let you know, too.
May your days be merry, and bright. And may all your Christmases be Cloud Dancer.
More soon.
