It's August, and of course, we're in the South, so it's HOT. And humid. Well, sort of humid. All the plant life is sort of gross and crunchy - unless it's getting watered regularly. Which means I wait for the storms and flash floods, or I do it myself. There are benefits to both.
Meanwhile, I am trudging forward in my job hunt. To quote Arrested Development's Tobias Funke:
"It's good...it's going to be good, it's going to be good."
Had a setback earlier in the week. Life makes you more resilient, but also fragile. I had an opportunity that I really liked and thought I had a decent chance of getting. I didn't get it. Which is not to say my chances weren't decent, it's just that someone else's were decenter. It happens.
Onward and upward, but I will say, it kind of kicked me into the corner for about a day. Now I'm good. I'm going to be good.
I had a crazy dream last night that I was taking an important exam for school, and it wasn't going well. I kept losing pages, and couldn't get the words written right, and then I left the exam for a play practice that turned into an action film. Which turned into a live hostage situation, and I was badly burned in an explosion. While I was recovering, I got a letter from the testing agency letting me know my test had disappeared in the explosion, but they opted to give me a passing grade on it due to circumstances beyond my control. I think I was lucky.
My husband is on a temporarily weird schedule that ends tomorrow - I'll be glad for some normal. We also have a whole weekend with no plans, and that works nicely for me. I loved last weekend - we had some family in town, and a baseball game, and I saw some friends - so it was very social. But I could use a break.
Plans are coming together for the great big old picnic at the cabin. And hopefully, the cabin itself. In theory, the tub and toilet were removed yesterday for flooring, and the new water heater went in. I need to catch up with the project manager and let him know we would love to have the toilet *back in* before our guests arrive at the end of the month. I have a back up plan, but it's not a great one.
So, the plates are spinning. They are precarious, but they are spinning.
That's it for me, from here, for now.

Education did a lot to prepare me for the world but school and work are very different.
At least I've never performed CPR on someone who didn't need it, though I did occasionally shower with my shorts on after gym class.
