Cabello En Fuego

Well, you know - some days you get the bear, some days the bear gets you.

Things are kind of crazy here in my world.  Just, you know - things moving forward, but not really.  Kind of furious treading water, if that makes sense.

At the moment, I'm in my den, and there's an arborist service outside at a neighboring house, grinding trees loudly.  I mean, I don't mind if it keeps a giant oak tree from falling on my house.  But since they're across the street, that seems unlikely.

So, that's a good time.

Meanwhile, the robins in the backyard, or technically, my neighbor's backyard are getting ready for babies.  I've seen the mother getting up on the edge of the next, looking at her eggs, then settling back down on her eggs.  HARD.  And then shifting a lot to try to get the ball rolling.  She has done this twice in my presence, and it is freaking hilarious.

I, too, am ready for the babies.

Easter was pleasant.  I made some little baskets for me and Matt, along with a little egg toy for Piper.  She's a fan.

Now it's time to prep for my mother's memorial service.  This time next week, we'll be just that much closer.  I'm pretty excited about it.  Well, seeing my people, that is.  I mean, it's hard to be excited about a memorial service.

Beyond that, a few exciting things - we have decided to take up sewing.  It's a practical thing.  I have a skirt, and a pair of jeans, and Matt bought some new pants for work (5 pair). They all need to be hemmed.  If we took them to a seamstress, it would run us about $200 to get it all sorted.  And the cost of a decent machine is about $200.  So, we decided to make that happen.  The machine has arrived.  I ordered some thread in a neutral colors and denim assortment. So, now the learning curve begins.  I am more likely to buy pants now because I will be able to hem them.  I might even learn to make my own clothes.  Or not.  We'll see.  It's fascinating to think about, though.

So, you know, we're doing domestic things, and we're killing it!

I hope you do what you're doing in a way that works for you.
