Songs that remind me of the good times

Yesterday morning, en route to the car, I took a spill.  I'm kind of known for my falls, although I haven't fallen down since before Covid, easily.  I don't even recall how it happened.  All I know is that I was on my way down the front stairs, and then I was on my side in the monkey grass.

I'm fundamentally fine.  No broken bones, no lacerations.  A little sore, one small scrape - and within two minutes I was on my way to work.  And best of all, nobody saw it.  If you fall, you want to get up on your own time without people hovering and offering to help (or trying not to laugh).

I hate falling down.  It's like gravity having a joke at your expense.  That said, if I'm going to fall - that was the way to do it.  I hate the ones where it takes a long time to fall, and you flail around trying to avoid it and that only makes it worse when you do.

So that was the start of my week.  This morning, I was able to get to the car without incident, albeit gingerly.  My leg still hurts a little, and you know - once upended, twice shy.

I went to a fabulous little over the weekend.  My friend Paige, who I met doing Zumba threw the party - and two of our fellow classmates attended as well.  I do love the eclectic bunch of people I have befriended here.  One of the women, whom I have met before was there with her husband and kids.  We talked a lot.  Her daughter was sitting with us - she's a fifth grader - her Mom is the Girl Scout troop leader so we talked about that.  We talked about a lot of things.  One of the women from Zumba who was there left her job as a doctor at Vanderbilt and is now the VP of some major research at Astra Zeneca.  She and her husband were there and are just lovely people.

The kids are all bright, very chill and we rang in the Lunar New Year eating bao, talking about politics, and enjoying being around people.  Paige throws GREAT parties.

Meanwhile, at the ranch, we are in the ongoing process of de-cluttering.  It always makes me a little tense, because like many people, I feel that my possessions are all precious and necessary.  Not clutter.  But, of course, I am sometimes a little delusional.

There's a lot going on this week.  I have a meeting for a volunteer task force I'm on.  I am getting a new CPAP.  I am going to see Mom at the end of the week.  It's going to be a lot.

Next weekend, I swear - I'm going to focus so hard on me, and what I need - it's going to break the lens.

But for now, I'm going to focus on the week.  I think.

I'm guessing that at the gathering you didn't have a cider drink, a whiskey drink, a vodka drink, which is probably just as well. And no broken glasses either.

Glad you're OK. How did the monkey grass fare?
