Perchance

I want to tell you about four types of sleep:

Sleep-Sleep:  This is your average, go to bed at night, wake up in the morning version of sleep.  Nothing special.

Nap Sleep:  This takes place after you wake up, and before you go to bed for the night.  It can last 10 minutes or several hours.

Micro Sleep:  This is the kind of sleep you get on an airplane, as a passenger in a car, or watching a movie.  You sleep for a few seconds or minutes, but wake up often.  Micro isn't especially satisfying, and often leads to nap or sleep-sleep.

Slippy Sleep:  This is something in between micro and nap.  It's the waking up, but falling back asleep deeply for a few minutes type of sleep.  The conditions for slippy are tenuous, but slippy, when achieved, is often some of the best, because it feels like you're getting away with something.  This is also where some of your weirdest dreams will come into play.

I enjoy them all.  Even micro.

I hope to experience all four of these sleeps this weekend.

Sweet dreams,

ae

I think Micro Sleep is the only one I didn't get this weekend. Nap Sleep has become a part of my regular routine, usually between 6:30 and 7:00 PM which, I know, is a strange time for it. But I have several things to take care of when I finish work and if I did it earlier I'd risk missing Jeopardy.
