Jet Setter

In theory, I have 12 preset buttons available in my car.  In reality, there are six physical buttons, and a way to toggle between Preset 1 and Preset 2.

Also, Nashville doesn't have enough radio that I enjoy to fill 12.

So here are my top six:

1.  96.3 JACK FM - now, this is not my number one just because they let me take over their radio station for a day - although, they totally did, and it ranks as one of the best days ever.  They play a little of everything.  Heavy on 80s, and a little current stuff.  Occasionally a country cross-over - but it's more of a classics station.  No DJs, no weather or traffic.

2. Mix 92.9 - JACK's sister station  - they share a building.  Pop/Lite Rock/Country Lite.  This station skews more "girly" - Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars.  Their morning crew is decent, and they do traffic and weather.  More importantly, I know that if I am hearing them do their morning contest, I need to be at the Old Hickory Boulevard Exit or better to be to work on time.

3.  93.3 Classic Hits - 70s heavy.  Occasionally late 60s.  The music is great, but the signal is terrible, and their DJ in the AM will segue from some serious news bite to a car dealership advert in a jarring fashion.  Great music, though.

4.  90.1 WPLN - Nashville Public Radio - I don't listen as often as I should.  But I like them in the afternoon, and on lunch break.  In the morning - that's a lot of information getting pumped into my headbrain.

5.  102.1- The 'Ville - Soul/R&B - I found this station about a month ago - like 93.3, weak signal, GREAT music.  They dig into the classics.  I don't love the new stuff.  But 60s and 70s stuff is my jam.  Plus, I love the way they announce their station ID - emphasis and higher pitch on "The", then "Ville" is staccato.  Think of the old SNL Sketch - Da Bears!

6. 94.5 Hippie Radio - Classic Top 40 of the 60s/70s.  I don't like their morning DJ, but I do like their traffic guy "Little Johnny Overstreet".  On Sundays, they do a rebroadcast of an old Casey Kasem Top 40 from the 70s, and it's delightful.  I learn a lot from that, and I make a point to be in the car for the last ten songs or so.

Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.

Just in case you were wondering.

I used to listen to Casey Kasem's show every weekend in the early 80s, when I was a kid. I'm going to have to go online to listen to your 94.5. I won't know a lot of the 70s stuff, but I'd love to hear old Kasem shows!

I had no idea Hippie Radio played old Kasey Kasem Top 40s. That's wonderful.
It's probably because I spend so much time riding the bus that most of my listening is to podcasts. I still have an old Walkman which is ideal for listening to regular local radio, and I should probably pull it out.
