Drop It Like It's Hot (or Cold)

I love throwing parties.  I sure do!

Today is the day of the Big Solar Eclipse, and since I can't be at home, partying like a rockstar, then I'm just going to make do with where I am, and my resources here.

I brought in:

- Sunkist soda (regular and diet)
- Moon Pies (banana, but that I found them at all is fantastic)
- Little Debbie Star Crunch Snack Cakes
- Fun Size Milky Ways
- Sun Chips
- Eclipse Gum

Now, onto important matters.  My hypothetical playlist for the Eclipse of the Century Party:

- Sunshine; Jonathan Edwards

- Blue Moon; The Marcels

- Moonlight (Feels Right); Starbuck

- Night and Day; Fred Astaire

- Moondance; Van Morrison

- All Night Long; Lionel Richie

- Celebrate; Kool and the Gang

- In the Year 2525; Zager and Evans

- Red Rubber Ball; The Cyrkle

- Dancing in the Moonlight; King Harvest

- It's the End of the World as We Know It: REM

- Total Eclipse of the Heart; Bonnie Tyler (I first remarked on this 2 weeks ago.  Trendsetter!)

- Sunshine, Lollipops; Leslie Gore

- Hot, Hot, Hot; Buster Poindexter

- Afternoon Delight; Starland Vocal Band

- Blister in the Sun; Violet Femmes

- Ain't No Sunshine; Bill Withers

- Hot Fun in the Summertime; Sly and the Family Stone

- Blue Moon of Kentucky; Bill Monroe

- Doctor My Eyes; Jackson Browne

- Monday, Monday - The Mamas and the Papas

- So Long It's Been Good to Know Ya; The Weavers/Woody Guthrie

- Summertime, Summertime; The Jamies

- See You In September; The Happenings

- Hello, Goodbye; The Beatles (Here Comes the Sun was a little too spot-on)

- Love Shack; B-52s (this isn't part of the theme, it just never fails to get people out on the dance floor)

- Walking After Midnight; Patsy Cline

Feel free to add anything you think I'm missing.  I know, I know Moonlight Sonata, Dark Side of the Moon.  Dig deeper.

What about "Waiting For The Sun" by The Doors? Yeah, that's kind of a downer, as is Pink Floyd's "Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun". Those are the songs you play if you want your party to be moody and contemplative.
Better to rock with the B-52s and, hey, "Hallucinating Pluto" has the astronomical theme.
Save this playlist. It'll be good in almost five hundred years. Or less if you're inclined to travel.
