Oh dear, what can the matter be?

One of the biggest pains in the ass about being a woman is...

Ok, hang on - if you're a guy (or a squeamish female), this deals with squicky female stuff, and you may not want to deal.  Feel free to skip this post.

Instead, look at this pretty flower by Georgia O'Keeffe:

Try not to think of vaginas.

So, ladies, or non-squeamish people of all genders - where was I?

Ah, yes.

One of the biggest pains in the ass about being a woman is the menstrual cycle.  I remember being eleven and just hoping it would start.  And then when I was twelve, it did.

Yay!

Followed immediately by booooooo!

Here's the thing.  It's messy, it's gross, it's inconvenient.

But that's not even the worst of it.

The worst part, for me, is the 5-7 days leading up to it.  My breasts seem to take on a life of their own.  They hurt, they're huge and in the way, and it's annoying.

And then, there's the crazy that comes along with it.

When I was on the pill, it was a little more under control.  At my advanced age, I've gone off the pill, and oh, holy hell - I am one crazy mofo with the PMS.

Everything is irritating, or makes me sad, or makes me angry. To say nothing of hungry.

And it's not like I can expect other people to mark their calendars to treat me with kid gloves.
Or wear a warning label, or pitch a red tent and stay there.

Tempting though that is.

Now, the other thing about the pill is that I was a little more aware, because my packs basically counted the days for me.

Now, I just have two or three days where everything rubs me the wrong way, and I think, "What the hell is wrong with me?

And then I notice the date and think, "Ooohhhhhhh, yeah."

I also seem to think I may have written about this once already this year.

But what's it to you?

I'm kidding, I'm kidding....

Mwah!

Prozac does wonders for pre-menstrual wackiness. You can take it a few days a month as needed. I take it every day, becase I'm just that nuts.
