Well, today is my 36th birthday. You know what sucks? Having to come into the office on your birthday. Due to the advanced technology of Facebook, several people here actually know it’s my birthday. So I don’t have the anonymity of going underground. But at the same time, my Mom isn’t bringing in cupcakes to share with my classmates.
Blech.
The actual aging process doesn’t bother me. Especially because 36 is my favorite number. So that’s no big thing.
But it would be great to not be here – to be getting a pedicure or a haircut or buying a new outfit. Or having lunch with a friend, or taking a nap, or taking a walk with Lola.
Sometimes, I just want a little more glamour and a little less laundry.
That said, I did have a great weekend with my family – my nephew Henry is really sweet, lots of fun – I miss him already –but that’s not to say I couldn’t use a long, long nap from the festivities. I had some of my friends from work over Saturday to have dinner with the family, and it went well. I think everyone had fun – because as one of my friends said, otherwise he’d have left a lot sooner. Cryptic statements like that make me doubt my sanity, to say nothing of my ability to cook a decent meal.
Still, great food, great friends and great family. It doesn’t get much better.
Work is good. Actually, I had a really affirming time last week – we had customers in for the User Conference, and they were nice, funny and pleasant to be around. Except for one woman who pitched a bitch in one of our training sessions. She was hell on wheels. Charming. Everyone hated her by the end of the week.
Ahhh, I can’t complain, but sometimes, I still do.
